CHRAJ to reconstruct Old Parliament House with 15 million cedis

The Old Parliament House, located on the busy John Evans Atta Mills High Street served as the gathering for Ghana’s legislators from 1951 to 1981.

The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) is set to reconstruct the Old Parliament House to the tune of 15 million cedis.

The Old Parliament House, a major architectural relic of colonial rule in the centre of Accra, was the office of CHRAJ but it was engulfed in flames in December 2013 destroying much the building and equipment running into thousands of cedis.

CHRAJ was allocated 37,816,401 cedis for the year out of which the reconstruction would be funded from.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Commission of CHRAJ, Joseph Whittal welcomed the allocation said it would go a long way to help the human rights and anti-corruption agency to carry out its duties effectively.
