Wales scrum-half Webb in contention for February return

Ospreys have revealed Wales scrum-half Rhys Webb could return to action in late February, meaning he will miss the start of the Six Nations.

Webb has been out since undergoing surgery on a foot injury sustained in Wales' final Rugby World Cup warm-up match with Italy.

The 27-year-old was initially ruled out for up to eight months, but, according to Ospreys' medical performance manager Chris Towers, is closing in on a comeback.

Towers said in an update on Ospreys' official website: "His recovery is going well and we're now concentrating on getting him to the physical level he needs to be in order to perform as we want.

"He has begun running again, starting doing some skills work, and the focus is on getting him available for selection at the end of February, which would be five months post-op."

Wales begin their Six Nations campaign against Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on February 7.
