The award ceremony comes amidst controversy over its sale of 5 million litres of contaminated fuel to a newly registered company, Movenpiina.

The sale has generated heat, as both the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress trade barbs over the development.

The NDC has called for Alfred Obeng to step aside for full scale investigations into how the contaminated fuel was sold.

According to them, Ghana may have lost $7 million due to the deal.

But the Majority MPs have pushed back hard, agreeing to a thorough investigation but said it must date back to 2009.

They also accused the fomer BOST managing director, Awuah Darko, of making some questionable payment to the presidency under the watch of former President John Mahama which requires investigations.

They also accused Mr Mahama and his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, of taking a bimonthly amount of $2.5 milliion and $3 million.
