Talib to reportedly miss White House ceremony

Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib will reportedly not accompany the Super Bowl champions to the White House on Monday for their visit with President Obama after being shot in the leg.

Talib suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound on Sunday in Dallas and was held for observation at Medical City Hospital.

He is expected to be released on Monday but will apparently not be present when the Broncos are honored by President Obama for their triumph in Super Bowl 50 at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

A statement released by the Broncos on Sunday read: "We are in communication with Aqib Talib, who remains at a Dallas hospital for observation as he recovers from a gunshot wound suffered to his lower right leg on Sunday.

"He is expected to be released from the hospital soon, and we are glad he is OK and will make a full recovery. Our organisation has been in touch with the NFL on this matter, and we will provide additional updates as appropriate."

Talib, who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, was voted to the Pro Bowl for the third consecutive year last season as he helped the Broncos win a first Super Bowl title since 1998.
