The 2014 champions have begun this season 0-2 with losses to Wellington and Auckland, and have lost 26-year-old fly-half Marshall due to a broken toe.
Marshall also plies his trade for Super Rugby outfit Hurricanes, with 30 appearances and 72 points to his name for the 2015 runners-up.
"X-ray results have come through not good, season over before it really started!" Marshall tweeted on Monday.
Taranaki are preparing to host another winless side, Otago, in New Plymouth on Saturday.
