Tori Bowie Rio Olympic Games 100m

Tori Bowie is "living the dream" in Rio and the American sprinter is paying no attention to the threat posed by her rivals as she targets 100 metres Olympic glory on Saturday.

Bowie's decision to concentrate solely on sprinting and ditch the long jump paid off when she won 100m bronze at the world championships in Beijing last year.

The 25-year-old won her 100m heat at the Olympic Stadium on Friday to raise hopes that she can add an Olympic medal to her collection this weekend.

Dafne Schippers, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson are among Bowie's rivals over the shortest sprint distance.

But Bowie, who also goes in the 200m next week, is confident she stands a good chance if everything falls into place.

Speaking courtesy of Adidas, Bowie told Omnisport: "I haven't really thought about my competitors. This is more about me and what I need to do and the clock. And that's focus for now.

"I feel amazing. I don't really have anything to complain about here in Rio. I'm living my dream right now, trying to embrace each moment, each second.

"I come into this race with a totally different mindset from how I've been the past year or two. Like I went to the World Championships last year extremely anxious. I was so anxious to get that gold medal.

"I come into this meet with a completely different mindset. I come into this meet not anticipating anything but trying to execute every single thing I worked on my training.

"I think if I can execute every single thing I am trying to do it's going to be a great day here in Rio."
