Driver’s mate crashed under an articulated truck

Mohammed Abubakar, 27, a driver’s mate resting under an articulated truck was crashed by the articulated truck at the GHACEM depot within the precincts of Takoradi Port.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Omari Boakye, the Crime Officer in charge of Railways and Takoradi Port, confirmed the tragic incident to the Ghana News Agency that, the incident occurred around 1230 hours on Thursday.

He said the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at a private morgue in Takoradi while the suspect, Paul Nyamekye, the driver, had been remanded into police custody.
He said the suspect would be charged provisionally for careless driving while the docket would be forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office for further advice.

Narrating the incident to the GNA, ASP Boakye said, Abubakar was resting under the truck parked at the GHACEM depot for loading, however, unknown to the driver of the truck, he moved his vehicle after the truck was loaded and ran over the deceased, killing him instantly.
