No fewer than three people have been reported dead when a power transformer exploded in Abuja, injuring five other people.

The incident happened in Tudun-Wada area of Abuja, along the Airport Road.
Dr. Anthony Aka, the chairman, National Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) shared his grief concerning the death of the victims, as well as those who were injured.
According to the NERC boss, a poor connection by officers of the  Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), led to the explosion.

Aka reportedly ordered companies who provide electricity services to ensure that they change all sub-standard products they have used in their work.
