South Africa have suffered a further blow ahead of their decisive third Test against Ireland with Trevor Nyakane joining Lood de Jager and Duane Vermeulen in leaving the camp due to injury.

Nyakane sustained an ankle injury as the Springboks levelled the series 1-1 with a dramatic 32-26 victory over Ireland in Johannesburg last weekend.

X-rays showed no fracture but swelling to the joint is severe enough to rule the prop out of the Port Elizabeth decider.

The Springboks had already lost Vermeulen to an elbow injury, while De Jager's troublesome calf has forced him out of the squad.

Fly-half Pat Lambie had previously been ruled out of the third match as he recovers from a collision with CJ Stander during the first Test.
