Police arrest 50 over the murder of Captain Mahama
Fifty persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a military officer at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region.
The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Irene Oppong, speaking to the media said the suspects are being sent to Police Regional headquarters in Cape Coast for further interrogation.

ASP Oppong said "Security situation is under control after a meeting with the District Security Council (DISEC), the police and the military this morning."
However, the Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel Aggrey-Quarshie in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM said about 50 men have been rounded up in the Upper West Denkyira district in connection with the heinous crime.

Captain Maxwell Mahama of the 5 Battalion of Infantry at Burma Camp in Accra who was on detachment duties at Diaso in the Central Region was lynched to death by the youth of the town.
The officer was on operational duties at the Alaska C&G Mining Company at Amenase Forest, near Diaso in the Central Region.
He was said to be jogging when some residents accused him of being part of a robbery gang that stormed Denkyira-Obuasi the previous day.
Other reports say the assemblyman of the area organised some youth in the town to beat him to death.
The Ghana Armed Forces has since confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
Scores of armed military personnel have been deployed to Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region as they mount a search for residents said to have lynched the Captain in charge of the area.
