Lindsey Vonn edged ever closer to Lara Gut in the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup overall standings with a second victory in as many days at Zauchensee.

Having equalled Annemarie Moser-Proell's record of 36 downhill victories at the same venue 24 hours earlier, Vonn again proved the class of the field as she beat Gut to victory in Sunday's super-G race.

A time of one minute and 12.75 seconds helped the American finish 0.70 seconds ahead of Gut, who crucially lost time over the final section of the course.

Gut held a 158-point advantage over Vonn prior to this weekend's action in Zauchensee, but that has now been narrowed to 38.

Along with Gut, Viktoria Rebensburg had also threatened to outdo Vonn, but a costly late error left the German almost two seconds off the pace in 11th.

Austria's Cornelia Hutter (+1.25secs) edged out Nadia Fanchini (+1.26), Elisabeth Goergl (+1.30) and Francesca Marsaglia (+1.34) to take the final place on the podium.

Vonn has now won her last four super-G outings and boasts 73 World Cup victories.
