Headmaster, 2 others in police grips over exam malpractice

 
 
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) officials have said the three were arrested after they attempted to sneak answers to candidates who were writing the Literature paper.

Police in Kumasi have arrested three people including the Headmaster of Ascension Senior High School in the Ashanti region over examination malpractices.

The two others arrested are a female Literature Teacher of the same school and a female student.

“The candidate led a [WAEC] depot keeper who caught her in the action to the female literature teacher. According to the girl, the female teacher gave her the answers to be given to the students in the examination hall,” the Ashanti Regional Branch Controller for WAEC, Alex Bosompem, told Accra-based Joy FM.

Mr. Bosompem added that the headmaster, Ekow Quashie, was arrested because he had in his possession some yet-to-be-written papers on his mobile phone.

Meanwhile, three major papers of the ongoing WASSCE have leaked, but WAEC indicated it will not cancel them.President John Dramani Mahama has also asked WAEC to put its house in order and has requested the BNI to assist in curbing future leaks and bring perpetrators to book.
