Police in the Western Region are hunting for a group of highway robbers who shot and killed a policeman at Wassa Juabo near Sefwi Wiawso in the Western region last Wednesday, March 16, 2016.

The deceased, Corporal Francis Osei Amankwaa, 31, was returning home from a night duty in a Taxi when he bumped into the robbers who attacked him.

Edward Mensah, an uncle of the deceased noted that the highway robbers had stopped many vehicles on the highway and ordered passengers to lie down when the uniformed policeman bumped into them.
On spotting the policeman, the robbers became alarmed, rushed on him, stabbed him before finally shooting him to death and subsequently absconded from the scene.
No arrest has been made yet.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Bibiani Government Hospital mortuary.
