According to NDTV Gadgets, the latest update of the app (v2. 12. 312) which is available on the company’s website adds a rich preview feature to the instant messaging platform that lets you preview links if you want to send such.

The report further reveals that the feature currently only shows the preview on the senders end and not on the receiver’s end which means the company is most likely still working on it. Even if the recipient has the latest WhatsApp for Android, the preview will not show at that users end but instead appear as a plain URL.

The report also reveals that the rich preview currently only appears for URLs and not links shared from social media platforms like Twitter or Instagram.
