Education is arguably one of the most important things driving the world’s economies.

It may be known by the anonymous-sounding term ‘human capital’, but it is about teaching, learning and training; it’s about investing in people. And how we do it is a key factor in ensuring economic growth in the future.

According to the newly released Human Capital Report 2017 by the World Economic Forum, Rwanda has been ranked the best-performing country in the world when it comes to the training and education of its population.

Sub Saharan African countries lead the way in Africa when it comes to making the most of the skills of their people, and giving them the best educational opportunities.

Ghana is in 2nd place, Cameroon is in 3rd place, and Mauritius is 5th.

The 2017 Human Capital Index ranks 130 countries on how well they are developing their human capital on a scale from 0 (worst) to 100 (best) across four sub-indexes - capacity, deployment, development and know-how.
