Mr. Archie Hesse, CEO of Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Ltd (GhIPSS) has urged Ghanaians to adopt electronic payments systems wholly as part of our culture to derive all the benefits that come with it.

According to him consumers and service providers should embrace the lifestyle of electronic payments in their transactions.

The GhIPSS together with other financial institutions have rolled out a number of electronic payment channels for the past ten years in the country.

As part of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s aim to enhance interoperability between financial institutions, the cashless transition of electronic payment has now more than ever become crucial.

According to Mr. Hesse the new revolution in payment systems should see the use of cards, mobile money, Instant Pay, Direct Credit and Debit as the norm of monetary transactions in the country.

‘The use of these channels saves the companies money, they can take part of the savings and offer them as the incentives to the customers.’

Such motivation together with existent government policies he explained would encourage people to make the shift to cashless payments.
