Per the policy, all fees approved by the Ghana Education Service Council for first-year students have been absorbed by the government, except dues from the Parent Teachers' Association.

But what are the fees being absorbed by the government, and how much is going to be paid for each student?

Meanwhile, some parents have complained about what they describe as extortion by heads of schools even though the free senior high school (SHS) education policy has begun.

They have argued that some head teachers are demanding registration fees and other items which even cost more than what government has absorbed under the programme.

The parents have since called on the Education Ministry to intervene.
