President Akufo-Addo said education is important and he will prioritise this sector because he believes it is one of the surest ways to escape poverty.

The president said it was worrying to see that thousands of children in times past could not go to school because their parents cannot afford the fees and other need items.

He added that his government intends to reverse this trend and improve human resource.

“To ensure that no child is denied access to education we are moving one of the major obstacles which is cost. Leadership is about choices and I have chosen to invest in the youth and future of the country.”

President Akufo-Addo said this will ensure that every child in every corner in the country will have access to education.

He urged all stakeholders to ensure the programme becomes a success.

“From this day on, we lift the financial burden of our parents. Irrespective of the circumstances, students have their right to secondary education not for what they learn in books but for their life experience. I want them to be confident that what they study meet the demands of not only today but for the future.”
