After 10 years of studying for it, Madam Kimlan Jinakul received her degree from the country’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, who took the throne last year.

The 91-year-old graduate who could equally not hide her joy said "I am happy and honored that the king has graciously shown such limitless mercy," Kimlan said.

As to how relevant the fresh degree is for her at the current age, Kimlan Jinakul said" If we do not study, do not read, do not know, then we won't be able to speak and make sense," she said.

Son of Kimlan who traveled with the rest of his family from their home in Phayao province, 725 kilometers (450 miles) north of Bangkok, to attend the graduation ceremony said he and the other siblings were left with no option, but to support their mom since that was what she was so determined to do.

"…but we as her children tried to cheer her on and mom studied until the end and it was a success. Sometimes she felt weary because of her body," Mongkol Jinakul revealed about her mother.
