Jacob Zuma suffers 7th vote of no-confidence in less than 9 years

Since he became president of the nation in 2009, Jacob Zuma has suffered credibility deficit following issues of corruption that have afflicted his image.

Mr. Zuma succeeded former president, Thabo Mbeki when a high court ordered him to step down following developments bothering on dishonesty.

He has since suffered several votes of no confidence but survived all. The most recent was the one that the controversial president survived narrowly by just 21 votes.

The impending vote of no confidence that has been scheduled by the speaker of the South African parliament, Baleka Mbete is in response to a request from the opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party.

Mr. Zuma’s credibility has been shaky all these years, but his relevance has dwindled just when his own party, National Congress (ANC) revoked his leadership title of the party by electing his vice, Cyril Ramaphosa as the party’s leader.

According to the Africanspotlight.com, the latest vote of no confidence has been scheduled for February 22.

It quoted the country’s parliament as saying, "Ms Mbete informed EFF leader Mr Julius Malema that she had decided to schedule their requested motion of no confidence in the President for 22 February."
