Student stabs girlfriend to death after suspecting her of having sugar daddy

Kenyan police are investigating the alleged murder of a first year student of the country’s Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology, Mildred Wanyonyi by her boyfriend, Simon Wamalwa on suspicion that she had been dating a “sugar daddy”.

The incident reportedly happened in a hostel outside the school where the suspect and the deceased lived.

According to yabaleftonline.ng, some students narrated that the two love birds who gained admission into the school early this year, were having an altercation over Simon Wamalwa’s accusation that Mildred Wanyonyi was having a secret relationship with an elderly man who had been giving her gifts.

In the course of the argument, the suspect became violent and stabbed the deceased to death and tried to commit suicide with the same knife, but was rushed to the hospital by other students.

One student identified as Sylvia Udoto is quoted as saying: “Wamalwa had claimed that his girlfriend had acquired a ‘sponsor’ who was pampering her with gifts. The girlfriend denied and a quarrel ensued and he stabbed her several times.”

Another student who was among those that rushed the suspect to the hospital also narrated that: “We heard noises coming from one of the rental houses that hosts students and when we got there we saw that the girls had been stabbed severally and was lying unconscious.”

Meanwhile, Bungoma South OCPD, David Kirui confirmed the incident, saying “We received a report on the incident in Sang’alo and police were called in and found the suspect lying on the floor in a pool of blood while Mildred was on the bed. They were both rushed to Bungoma County Referal Hospital where Mildred was pronounced dead on arrival.”

The police chief assured that Simon Wamalwa would soon be processed for court upon his recovery.
