ASP Obeng further revealed that the modus operandi adopted by the robbers was to often use an Opel Astra taxi to pick unsuspecting female passengers and midway through the journey, they gag, rob, rape and severely beat them.

According to the GNA, some residents have already identified the suspects as those that have attacked them, which the robbers themselves have admitted to.

They disclosed that their latest robbery was just about five weeks ago, when they picked up two female passengers, beat and dumped them in the bush after seizing their cash and other valuables.

The three suspects in police custody now include Emmanuel Fosu, alias “Alhaji”, Farouk Amadu, alias “Burger” and Saliu Yakubu, alias “Baba Tunde”.
