Fancy Gadam or Maccasio: who is the best?

Fancy Gadam is a singer while Maccasio is a rapper.

But this has not prevented their supporters from comparing and bragging about who is the best or has large following.

Entertainment critic in Tamale, Tahiru Wahab, believes Fancy Gadam has an edge over Maccasio because he has a national appeal than Maccasio.

He tells Pulse.com.gh that, “Fancy Gadam is now becoming a national asset than a regional asset.”

“After his ‘Total Cheat’ song with Sarkodie, Fancy Gadam was recently in the studio with Patoranking. So definitely he is sending shock down the spines of Maccasio fans.

Asked if Fandacy Gadam wining the new artiste of the year counts in the battle for supremacy in the north, Wahab disagreed saying Maccasio can equally win that category if he is nominated.

“The Gadam nation fans they, of course, when they sit on radio and mention successes they’ve chocked, they will count that (VGMA new artiste of the year.)”

Pulse Ghana senior entertainment writer David Mawuli has been following these rising stars.

He has attend shows organised by Fancy Gadam and Maccasio.

What does he make of their rivalry?

“So far the two are on top. The reason why you cannot say one is better than the other is they are doing different genres," he says.

He continued: “Maccasio is a rapper and Fadacy Gadam is a singer. But in terms of who commands the crowd, I can say frankly, Fandcy Gadam has more following than Maccasio.

“They have similar crowd,” he said based on the fact that he has attend shows organized by both artistes. “But based on what is happening, I can say Fancy Gadam is in a comfortable lead and he is really doing a lot.

“In terms of national appeal, so far, Fancy Gadam has been able break through with the ‘Total Cheat’ so we can say Fancy has it.

“It is just left with Maccasio to come up with something the whole nation will agree to it."

On VGMA, Mawuli argues Fancy Gadam stands a chance to be nominated again next year.

“Fancy Gadam has another chance at next year’s VGMA. Best collaboration of the year and I can say Afro pop song of the year too he might get it," he said.

“If he gets nomination, his win is guaranteed. Because you know definitely his people will vote for him.

“He has real following. He has people who are off social media. That is how come he was able to win new artiste of the year."
