In a final debate before the approval, the Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu questioned why the president has named some programmes after himself in the budget statement.

Iddrisu said also questioned why the president moved the free SHS Program from the education ministry to the Presidency.

However, the Education Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh argued that it is a normal practice.

Despite Iddrisu’s claims and questions, the Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu said the 2018 budget holds the key to the progress of the nation. He accused the Minority of engaging in pedestrian arguments.

The Minority MPs even before today have insisted the Finance Minister flouted the Public Finance Management Act in the presentation of the mid-year budget review.
