This was disclosed by the Head of the Electricity Section of UCC, Joseph Wilberforce Ansah at the orientation of fresh students enrolled in the school.

Ansah, therefore, pleaded with the fresh students as well as the entire student body use power consciously and also strive to conserve energy.

He said this will reduce the cost of the power they are billed with and also ensure they pay their debt.

He said the total electricity consumption of the university for 2016 was GH¢ 8,522, 171.39.

Ansah said such huge bills will prevent the university from undertaking other pressing needs of the institutions.

He said if the university pays such huge sums, the university will be left with little revenue from their limited Internally Generated Funds.

The University of Cape Coast is in E.C.G’s category of Special Load Tariff and therefore has its own control system.
