US wants equal and stable partner in Ghana: Amb. Jackson
The US ambassador to Ghana, Robert Jackson, has said Washington wants an “equal and stable partner” in Ghana in the area of business, security and economic partnership.
The event also marked America’s 60 years of official diplomatic relations with Ghana.
“I know there’s always some scepticism when I say we [US] want a strong, equal partner,” he said.
Areas of cooperation
Mr Jackson highlighted the defence cooperation between the two countries when Ghana trained 60 US soldiers in jungle warfare.
According to him, “this is the first time an African partner nation trained US Army forces. These are US Soldiers who are now better able to defend the United States and our allies, because of the training they received.”
On business and trade, the said America businesses are expanding and investing in the Ghanaian economy.
“American companies are establishing and expanding their operations in Ghana; investing and creating opportunities for Ghanaian and American citizens,” he said.
