The five-month-old pregnant girl was arrested after being accused of stealing a GHC250 Samsung mobile phone from a phone seller.

The police went to her house to arrest her, but a struggle ensued in the process after her plea to the police to put on a decent clothing before following them to the police station was not heeded to.

The victim said she hit her stomach against a pole she firmly held on to which sent her to the ground.

According to her, she began bleeding while at the police station and this resulted in the miscarriage.

She said she was subsequently rushed to the Salvation Army Hospital for treatment.

Authorities at the hospital have confirmed recording such a case at the facility but failed to give further details due to the involvement of the Police.

Meanwhile, reports are that she may have induced the pregnancy, but she has since denied those claims.

She further told Accra-based Starr FM that she did not steal the phone, adding that the complainant promised to get her a phone after proposing to her.
