A former National Democratic Congress MP, George Loh, has revealed that the US government gave Ghana $300,000 for the upkeep of the two ex-Gitmo detainees brought into the country in 2016.
The Vice Chairperson on parliament's Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee made the revelation on Citi FMâs news analysis show âThe Big Issue.â
His comments come on the heels of a ruling by the Supreme Court for the Akufo-Addo administration to either rectify their stay in Ghana by seeking parliamentary approval or deport them.
Meanwhile, one of the detainees, Bin Atef, is said to married in Ghana.
It has, however, emerged that Bin Atefâs wife's name is Haia. She is a Yemeni. They married about two and a half months ago in Ghana.
