How the arrest was made

The fake lawyer was said to have introduced himself to two contractors earlier this year as a special assistant to the CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

He promised them that he could secure them contracts to build oil storage tanks for the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).

He subsequently asked the two to pay him an amount of GHS695,000 to facilitate the process for them.

But Asante failed to fulfill his promise after the contractors gave him the money.

The two alerted a National Security Operative who managed to arrest Asante at Kumasi in his vehicle and handed him over to the Police.

Meanwhile, investigations have revealed that he is not a special assistant to the CEO of GNPC and also has no transactions with TOR.
