Fake soldier busted

The 34-year-old suspect indicated that he was a soldier with the 6BN in Tamale

The suspect, Issah Abdul Mubarik was said to have gone to the Tamale District Police on October 16 this year dressed in military uniform, where he handed over a suspect he claimed had stolen his motorbike some months ago.

The 34-year-old suspect indicated that he was a soldier with the 6BN in Tamale and even wrote same in his complainant statement to the police.

The investigators who had doubts decided to interrogate him and on Monday, October 23, the suspect admitted that he was not a soldier.

He further claimed that the military accoutrements he had were for his late grandfather.

A search was subsequently conducted in his room at Dungu in the Northern Region where items including the following were found: two sets of uniforms bearing his name A. Mubarak, one pair of military trousers, one military combat boot, 2 pieces of 9mm ammunitions and a rubber stamp bearing the name of Forces Pay Regiment, Burma Camp, Accra.
