Some nomadic herdsmen have allegedly burnt nine mud houses at Asumesu No2, a small village in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.
Reports say residents of the community and the adjoining ones had gone for a meeting Wednesday to come out with ways to get pupils in the area to return to school when the herdsmen allegedly stormed their homes and burnt them.

The basic schools in the area were closed down a month ago following recent clashes between the residents and the herdsmen which claimed the lives of 10 people.

Teachers who were in the area fled as a result of the attacks, and so residents had met with the Assemblyman of one of the communities, Hweehwee, Solomon Aboagye to find best ways to get schools to reopen for classes to resume.
But they came home to find their homes razed down.
The District Chief Executive for the area and the Police have since been to the scene to assess the situation and to see how to assist those affected.
