In Northern Region Gunmen open fire on traders at Najong; 4 dead

Eight others are in critical condition.

Some gunmen on Sunday evening attacked at a market in Najong in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyon District in the Northern Region, killing four people with eight others in critical condition.

The deceased are all said to be males. Police say that four of the eight injured persons are in critical condition and are currently at the Baptist Hospital at Nalerigu in the East Mamprusi District.

The other four are being cared for at the Bindi hospital.

The unidentified gunmen on a motorbike had arrived at the market centre of the town and soon began shooting indiscriminately, leading to the death of the four with scores sustaining various degrees of injuries

A combined team of Police and military have since been deployed to the area to maintain peace in the town. As at the time of filing this story, no arrest had been made.

Meanwhile, the police have started an investigation into the matter.
