"No exit arrangements were originally discussed between the two governments to end the bilateral arrangement at the time of negotiations," she said.

The Minister said the government had granted the two Yemeni nationals, Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammed Salih Al-Dhuby, refugee status before the end of their mandatory two-year stay in the country.

Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu speaking on the development in an interview on Accra-based Adom FM said the action taken by the erstwhile administration makes it impossible to send the two detainees away from Ghana.

He said "There is no way the two detainees will be deported because they are now refugees of the country. When we took over power, it was revealed that the Mahama administration wanted to change their names so they can be part of us. They have secured them Ghanaian passports."
