Many areas including Okponglo Junction, Kwame Nkumah interchange, Mallam, Kaneshie, Taifa, Dzorwulu, Awoshie and its environs, Accra-Tema motorway were under water, with residents scooping water from their rooms and trying to save personal effects.

Roads and bridges  were cut and gulleys created thus cutting-off residents in many areas creating huge traffic jams in the city.

Media houses and citizen journalists in Accra took pictures of the havoc the flood created in Accra -- here's what the destruction looked it.

The heavy downpour submerged cars around the Kwame Nkurmah Circle interchange.

Commercial vehicles at Kaneshie could barely move.
