Abu Jinapor said he hopes to see Nana Addo on the ballot paper in the 2020 presidential elections

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

He said he hopes to see Nana Addo on the ballot paper adding that the processes through the party’s own internal contest will approve him to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) again in the elections.

Speaking to delegates at the National Delegates Conference rally in Cape Coast on Saturday, Abu Jinapor said "In January 2021, God will bless us with good weather; the sun will shine, and we will meet at the Black Star Square again. And when we meet, by the grace of God we will elegantly and boldly inaugurate another President for a second term and that president, undoubtedly, will be Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo."

President Akufo-Addo's re-election bid has been doubted following his earlier comments that he may not contest the elections.

Concerns have been raised by a section of the public, especially those operating illegal mining in the communities that they will not vote for Nana Addo in 2020 if he continues the fight against galamsey, but the president is more than determined to do that which is right, no matter the consequences.

The president speaking to journalists at a media encounter at the Flagstaff House, he said "I’ve been told there are young men who have said they voted for me and if I continue down this way they can be sure that they will not vote for me again in 2020. Well, the 2020 vote it’s not clear if Akufo-Addo’s name will be on the ballot in the first place and even if his name is on the ballot, this is not going to be the reason why I’ll stop, I’m going to continue."
