I will win NDC flagbearership position - Alban Bagbin

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nadowli/Kaleo constituency, Alban Bagbin said “When I imbibe on something, I commit everything to it and with the support of the almighty God, I always win. I don’t fail in what I do and I am sure of winning this primaries,” he disclosed in an interview.

This is his strongest indication that he will enter the flagbearer contest of the National Democratic Congress ahead of the 2020 polls.

Though the party has not stated its official date for the primaries the longest-serving lawmaker sees himself as the obvious choice.

“I am a winner….you know I am a winner. When I imbibe on something, I commit everything to it and with the support of the almighty God, I always win. I don’t fail in what I do and I am sure of winning this primaries,” he disclosed in an interview.

After the defeat the NDC suffered in the 2016 elections, many names have come up to contest for the flagbearer position in the next primaries.

The likes of immediate past Senior Policy Adviser and Head of Presidential Delivery Unit, Dr Valerie Sawyer; former MP for La Dadekotopon; former Chief Executives of NHIA, Sylvester Mensah; 1st vice Chairman of NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo; Anlo MP; Clement Kofi Humado and former Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur have all been reported to be interested in the slot.

Others include a former Minister of Trades and Industry Dr Ekow Spio Garbrah and a former Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuye.

Others have however denied the claims and indicated they will throw their support behind the best candidates.

However, Bagbin admitted that he will put himself up to be elected and is optimistic he will win the contest considering his stature and contributions to the growth of the NDC.
