Akufo-Addo marks stormy first 100 days in office

Two days later, the head of security at the Flagstaff House, ASP Nanka Bruce, was manhandled by the Invincible Forces, a vigilante group associated with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A spate of lawlessness and political victimisation persisted for a long while, drawing a strong condemnation from President Akufo-Addo.

Weeks after condemning the rise of lawlessness, another vigilante group in the Ashanti Region, Delta Force, assaulted the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator.
They were later arrested and are currently before the court.
But all is not stormy for the new administration. Inflation has dropped from 17 percent in January to 12.5 percent in April.
In addition, the government has announced a number of tax cuts to stimulate the economy. They include the removal of spare parts tax, reduction of VAT tax and the abolishing of 1 percent special import levy.
The government also has announced the commencement of the free Senior High School programme in September 2017.

Also, debt owned Nigeria's N-gas has been cleared as well as arrears owed troops on peacekeeping duties.
Furthermore, the government has allocated $456 million for the start of its flagship one-district, one-factory policy.
The Akufo-Addo administration has also declared war on illegal mining owing to the destruction of the nation's river bodies and cocoa farm lands.
For the National Democratic Congress, the first 100 days of Akufo-Addo has been a "disaster."
According to its National Organiser, Kofi Adams, president Akufo-Addo has veered off from the trajectory he inherited from his predecessor, John Mahama.

But government spokespersons say a lot has been achieved in the first 100 days of the NPP administration.
They point to the increase in the national service allowance, increase in peacekeeping allowance, the commencement of the free SHS in September, the planting for foods and jobs and the stability of the cedi.
