About the town
Denkyira Obuasi became popular after Major Maxwell Mahama was lynched by some residents after they mistook him for an armed robber.
Videos and pictures of the gruesome murder of the late Major Maxwell Mahama went viral on social and mainstream media with the country condemning his ‘killers’.

More than 40 persons including six females have so far being arrested in connection with the murder and have been remanded into prison custody in Accra and Cape Coast.
