'Furious' Asamoah Gyan slams referee after Ghana stalemate with Uganda

South African referee Daniel Benett denied Ghana victory at the death.

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has slammed South African referee Daniel Benett after he denied the Black Stars a perfect goal scored in injury time against Uganda in their World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

In a tense finish, Ghana thought they had scored in the dying seconds only for the strike to be ruled off-side.

The Ghana players surrounded the match officials after the final whistle and left Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah baffled.

South African referee Daniel Benett ratified the decision of the assistant referee to deny Ghana victory at the death.

Gyan, who missed the match due to injury, posted on his Twitter page: ''How on earth can this goal be disallowed? @ghanafaofficial we have to protest.. this no "fa ma Nyame" matter... i'm so furious.''
