Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan says he has no regrets over his move to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), insisting he chalked a lot of successes in his time there.

Gyan completed a dream move from Stade Renne to English Premier League side Sunderland, however, the striker left just after a season to join Al Ain in the Arabian Gulf League.

The 31-year- old received widespread criticism from some Ghanaians and football pundits, with some suggesting the move was purely for the money.

The former Udinese attacker subsequently joined Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, before again returning to the UAE to play for Al Ahi Dubai, where he is on loan.

But Gyan sees nothing wrong with his decision to move to the UAE, insisting he has no regrets.

"Never. Not at all, because I went to the UAE and I was the top scorer in my first year, second and third," he replied when asked if he held any regrets, on Joy Fm.

"Three times in a roll I was the best player in Asia. I was also the top scorer in Asia. I mean [I have] a lot of achievements there. And I think I hold the record as the best foreign player to have ever played in the UAE. So it's like I set a lot of records for myself and it's like I don't regret everything there. Money-wise  everything was good."
