GN Bank end three years of sponsorship

GN bank decline the renewal of sponsorship deal after three years of sponsoring Ghana Football second tier

The headline sponsors of Ghana’s second tier football has severed tie with the Division One League.

The outfit which is owned by bankroller of Ghana Premier League club Elmina Sharks in the three seasons at the helm encountered various problems.

At the end of the three year period which started with the signature 2.1 million deal spanning over three years from 2015, GN Bank are not going to renew the contract.

In speaking to Happy FM in Accra, the managing director of GN bank stated emphatically that GN Bank are looking forward to channel their funds somewhere else.

"We don't intend renew the contract. It's a question of a change in strategy. As a bank or organization, our board says we should support other areas."

Mr Adams then spoke on the expenditure the company had made on the league for the 3-year period:

"We signed a contract with them to sponsor the league for three years. We spent GHC 2,083.500 on the league and that ended the relationship at that point."

He also stated GN Bank withdrawing was that of a change of strategy.

"It doesn't mean that we must continue to support only football There are other areas that we can support so it's an issue of a change in strategy."

Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum threatened to have his company pull out of sponsorship in 2015 after cases of hooliganism in the league.
