Vice Chaiperson of the Women's League board sets final as the best target for new Black Queens Coach Mercy Tagoe in the WAFU tournament being held in Cote D'Ivoire
The Vice Chairperson of the Women’s League Board Rosalind Amoh was speaking to Radio XYZ on the chances of the team as they go into the tournament which is scheduled from 14th to 24th of February,2018.
“We all know Mercy Tagoe is new on the job and so there are no pressures on her but at least she should go and do very well then we pick it up from there.”
She also stated that the Black Queens making the final is the most realistic target at the tournament by assessing the teams involved.
“For me looking at the teams that are there, being in the final will probably be the realistic target and that is what we hoping to achieve”
Ghana are in group A with host Ivory Coast, Niger and Burkina Faso. Group B has Nigeria, Togo Benin and Senegal.
The WAFU tournament is to serve as a preparation ground for the 2018 Women’s African Cup of Nations in November to be held in Ghana.
However, Black Queens captain Elizabeth Addo has been permitted to miss this tournament as she flies back to the USA to sort out transfer issues.
