The Black Stars head coach gives clear cut advice on what Ghana's representatives should do ahead of the two major continental competitions
Aduana Stars won the Ghana Premier League at the end of the 2016/2017 season and will represent in the CAF Champions League.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be in the CAF Confederation’s Cup by virtue of being MTN FA Cup winners.
James Kwesi Appiah is a former player of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and had this to say about how his former club and Aduana Stars should prepare for the tournament.
“I believe these teams will go far if only they plan. They need to know what they are doing in the next three months.”
“I believe they have got good players but the thing is about planning”
Once they start pre-season they should know what they are about”. “They should make a decision on if they are going to camp them or allow them to stay in their homes.”
He then highlighted the major problem clubs face going into these competitions
“The major problems clubs face is the ability to camp players, feed them well and rest adequately during the pre-season.”
“If only they can do that then automatically they will be well prepared before the season starts.”
Coach James Kwesi Appiah coached Sudanese Club Al Khartoum for close to three years.
Appiah failed to go past the first round of the CAF Confederations Cup on two occasions during his tenure in Sudan.
