This is why Kenya is not hosting the CHAN tournament

First Vice President Kwesi Nyantakyi reveals the main reasons hosting rights were taken away from Kenya by CAF

First CAF Vice President Kwesi Nyantakyi has explained why the CHAN tournament hosting rights were stripped off Kenya.

Ahmad Ahmad did announce the decision to strip of the CHAN by CAF to the media at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra.

After the press briefing, the media caught up with the Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi on the reason why the continental showpiece could no longer be hosted in Kenya.

“CAF’s main issue was the preparedness of the infrastructure especially the stadia. Two stadia in Meru and did not appear to us that they would be ready before the tournament in January.”

"We were told by the authorities that the stadia would be ready by November but construction work was still ongoing. The Executive Committee decided that hosting the tournament in Kenya was not a gamble worth taking.

"We did not want to wait until the end of the year to find ourselves wanting.”

A new bidding process for the 2018 CHAN has begun effective when the announcement was made on the 26th of September, 2017

The bidding process ends on the 1st of October and a new host of the tournament will be held on the 8th of October, 2017
