Losing to the host nation is no news-Black Queens Coach

Black Queens Coach Mercy Tagoe believes losing to the host nation Ivory Coast should be no surprise but her team can still qualify despite the loss

The Head of Black Queens Mercy Tagoe Quarcoe has categorically stated that it should be no surprise for Ghana to lose to Ivory Coast in the opening game.  However, she did go on to say the Black Queens will be better in their next game against Niger.

Mercy Tagoe was speaking to the media ahead of the second group game against Niger. Niger lost 5-1 to Burkina Faso and she did say her technical team have taken cues from that game and are going train towards the next game accordingly.

“Our next game is against Niger and we all saw what happened when Burkina Faso played Niger. We have picked certain aspects of it and we are going to work towards replicating what Burkina Faso did”.

She was however confident of her side’s chances of qualifying out of the group despite losing its first game.

“We are still on course and we losing our opening game against the host nation is no news. If it were to be in Ghana I believe we will not have allowed Cote D’Ivoire to beat us. We had the chances to score but unfortunately we did not take them.”

“They had one chance and they took the only chance they had”.

“However it is gone and we cannot cry over spilt milk if we execute what we plan to do I promise the sky will be our limit.

Ghana will play Niger this afternoon at the Robert Champroux Stadium. The kickoff time will be 3:30
