However, the aforementioned attackers are not the only big name summer acquisitions by the European elite.

Arsenal spent £53 million to bring in Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon in a bid to bolster their attack ahead of the season.

Quietly across Merseyside, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is also taking his goal scoring heights to another level, with his form endearing him to many.

In Spain Barcelona also bought Ousmane Dembele for a whopping €105 million as a replacement for the departed Neymar.

In Italy, AC Milan led the spending spree by capturing the signature of highly-rated Portuguese striker Andre Silva from Porto.

Pulse Sports analyses the numbers behind some of the strikers bought in the summer and their performances so far (In no particular order).

1. Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid to Chelsea)

The Chelsea striker was brought in from Real Madrid as a direct replacement for compatriot Diego Costa. Morata has not had a bad season at all, having scored 11 goals for the Blues in all competitions so far this season.

The 24-year-old has nine goals in the league alone, but is below the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Mohamed Salah on the scoring charts. He, however, has four assists to his name.

Morata’s movements have been a menace for many defenders this season, with his pace and trickery also making him a handful for opposition teams.

2. Romelu Lukaku (Everton to Manchester United)

Manchester United front man Lukaku has been on the receiving end of trolls and taunts from fans, but his numbers do not look as bad as portrayed.

The Belgian striker has had a hand 14 goals in the Premier League this season, having scored 10 and assisted a further four times.

The 24-year-old also has four goals in six Champions League games this season.

3. Mohamed Salah (AS Roma toLiverpool)

Liverpool fans around the world currently cannot have enough of Mohamed Salah. The Egypt international has been sensational since joining the Reds from AS Roma.

Salah has been involved in most goals in the Premier League than any other player this season. The 25-year-old has scored 20 goals in all competitions. Fourteen of those goals have come in the league, with a further four assists in his name.

He has also netted five times in the Champions League.

4. Ousmane Dembele (Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona)

Barcelona’s capture of Ousmane Dembele was the perfect reaction to cool down fans who had been irked by the departure of Neymar to PSG. The 20-year-old completed a move to the Camp Nou for a colossal fee of €105 million.

However, the France international has been unable to feature prominently for the Catalan giants due to a serious injury he sustained back in September.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger has returned to training with the Barca first team and may just be fit enough to face Real Madrid in the Clasico next week. But in general, Dembele has not really made any impact since joining Barcelona and that can be largely attributed to his unfortunate injury woes.

5. Andre Silva (Porto to AC Milan)

Andre Silva’s move to AC Milan was greeted with much fanfare, however, the union has not been as fruitful.

The 22-year-old has failed to nail down a place in the Rossoneri starting line-up and is also yet to even register a Serie A goal this season.

The talent of Silva is not in doubt, but he is yet to really kick into gear since joining AC Milan last summer.

6. Neymar (Barcelona to PSG)

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar has been in scintillating form since moving to the French capital. The 25-year-old drew the ire of Barcelona fans following his €222 to PSG, but he has settled in well, chipping in with both goals and assists.

Neymar has scored 11 goals and recorded 8 assists in Ligue 1 alone, with his performance helping the Parisians to the top of the league table.

The Brazilian superstar also has five Champions League goals this season.

7. Alexandre Lacazette
