In the wake of news that Ghanaian player Kwame Bonsu’s appeal in Sweden has been adjourned after being jailed for raping his wife, Ghana has again made bad news in Italy.

Solomon Nyantakyi’s dreams of becoming a football star in Italy has hit a snag. The 21-year-old Ghana international has confessed to killing his 45-year-old mother Patience Nfum and 11-year-old Magdalene in their apartment near Parma station.

The family lived on the sixth and last floor of a building in the multiethnic district of San Leonardo in Italy.

The Ghanaian footballer who was born in Accra moved to Italy when he was eight years old having lived with his family for the past 13 years.

Having played for Primavera del Parma where he impressed on a football note, Nyantakyi’s behavior at the clubs he played at had not been at top level as his playing skills despite his shy and reserved nature at times.

Police in Italy arrested Solomon Nyantakyi when he tried to escape after murdering his mother and sister with his elder brother finding the deaths in their home after work.

The family’s apartment had so much blood that the police could not handle their investigations without polluting the crime scene.
