Ghanaian midfielder handed 12-match ban for assaulting referee in Nigeria

Douglas Nkrumah has been slapped with a 12-match ban for physically attacking a match official while playing for his Nigerian side Ifeanyi Ubah

Nkrumah who was not pleased with the decision of the referee when his side Ifeanyi Ubah faced off with Niger Tornadoes in the Nigerian topflight league vent his spleen on the knight of the whistle.

He and four other players who were involved in incident have therefore been banned for 12 games by the Disciplinary Committee.

Douglas Nkrumah was part of the Asante Kotoko team that won the Ghana Premier League in the 2005 season, before he later joined Hearts of Oak.

The Ghanaian joined the Nigerian side after featuring for Lebanese side Tripoli AC and SAFA Club.
