Majeed Waris is disappointed for failing to complete a transfer to the English Premier League.

The Ghanaian striker was linked to a move to the English Premier League, with Burnley and West Ham showing keen interest in him according to the reports and despite arriving in London to beat the deadline his deal fell through.

Majeed Waris will now join Lorient in the French Ligue II as they seek promotion back to the topflight.

Lorient President Loic Fery has expressed how Majeed Waris felt after he failed to make his dream move to the most exciting league in the world.

“The moment where it all got stuck, was around mid-August. We were close, at that point, with some clubs, but there were complications,” said Fery.

“Then, in the last few days of the window, it was more the work permit issues that were worrying English clubs.”

Fery added that it is his belief that Waris will bounce back and achieve his goals - especially if he performs strongly for Lorient.

“His first goal is to return to the national team. His second is to play in England,” added Fery.

“I don’t doubt that he will one day play there. I think that playing well for Lorient will help him achieve his goals.”

Waris scored 13 goals in French Ligue 1 last season but it was not enough to save Lorient from relegation.
