How the Black Stars fared in 1-1 stalemate with Congo

Here is how Pulse.com.gh rates the Ghanaian players.

Almeria forward Thievy Bifouma opened the scoring in the 18th minute while Thomas Partey scored a late equalizer for the Black Stars in the 86th minute.

The 2006 World Cup quarter finalists have now gone three games in the qualifiers without a win as they were held twice at home by Uganda and Congo and losing to Egypt in Alexandria.

We look at how the Black Stars players fared against their Congolese counterparts.

Richard Ofori - 6/10

Was virtually on holiday throughout the game but conceded a goal on Congo's first real attack. His alertness was on point but he still has work to do on his distribution.

Attamah Laweh - 2/10

He was Ghana's weakest link in defence. The Congolese attackers exposed him on numerous occasions and was culprit for Thievy Bifouma's goal for the Red Devils.

Jeffrey Schlupp- 5/10

Guided in a couple of crosses from the left flank. Was calm on the ball and showed composure but he didn't offer anything in attack for the Black Stars

Daniel Amartey - 6/10

Was nearly caught off the ball early in the first half  but the Leicester City man patrolled the defence with great diligence and occasionally bombed into the midfield to stump his authority anytime the Congo tried to express themselves.

Jonathan Mensah - 5/10

Partnered Amartey in defense again for the first time since the Black Stars 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat in Egypt. He slid in to make a couple of good interceptions deep inside his own penalty area but he gave too much space for Thievy Bifouma to strike Congo's goal.

Ebenezer Ofori - 6/10

The Stuttgart man was nervous in the early stages of the game but came back strongly in the second half. Great box-to-box stuff from the Stuttgart man and manned the midfield with Partey providing the shield though their combination reduced dynamism in the midfield..

Thomas Teye Partey - 8/10

Sat deep and broke up play intelligently. Joined the attack when necessary and offers when he joins attack. Was the conductor of Ghana's orchestra with his probing passing and shooting. Scored a late equaliser for the Black Stars.

Andre Ayew - 3/10

The West Ham man struggled to get himself involved in the game with vast chunks passing him by. Was not involved in a single pivotal moment on a decent performance by the Black Stars.

Asamoah Gyan - 3/10

The Ghana captain struggled to pose any threat to the Congolese defence. Played the game at a subdued pace and could not affect the game. Was rightfully substituted for Thomas Agyepong.

Jordan Ayew - 5/10

The Swansea forward had a mixed performance on the afternoon. Got a decent chance to equalise for Ghana after he was put through clear on goal but he waited too much for the Congolese defense to clear their lines

Christian Atsu- 7/10

Kept under close surveillance in the opening 45 minutes but the Newcastle United star sprang to life in the second-half and caused problems for the Congolese defence. Twsited and turned the Ethiopia defenders several times in the game. Provided the assist for Thomas Partey's goal.
